Redlands Rays Baseball Club has a new club coach, division 1 player Rhys Niit.
Rhys is a seasoned baseballer of 25 years who first started playing T-ball at Nerang Cardinals Baseball Club when he was just four.
Rhys's junior baseball career was spent on the Gold Coast at Mudgeeraba and Surfers Paradise clubs and after high school he moved to the US to play college ball at Trinidad State Junior College in Colorado where his pitching led the nation in wins for most of the season.
On his return to Australia in 2010 he signed with the Brisbane Bandits for the 2011/12 season, a career which spanned seven years.
Although signed with Canberra Cavalry, he is based at home in Queensland and travels to all Cavalry games.
Rhys has been Redlands Div 1 pitcher for the past two seasons and as club coach, is looking forward to sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with all Rays players and coaches and particularly to guiding the club's division 1 and 2 teams to victory in the season ahead.
Despite the COVID-19 restrictions, Rays are gearing up for the start of the 2020/21 baseball season with a "Come 'n Try" and sign- on day scheduled for this coming Saturday 8th August at the club grounds.
All COVID-19 rules outlined by Baseball Queensland will be strictly adhered to throughout the season. Detailed sign-on information can be found on the Redlands Rays Baseball Club Facebook page or on the website at redlandsrays.com.au.
