A stellar line-up of Redland talent will be showcased in the fourth and final RPAC Live concert being staged at 7.30pm on August 29.
This series of concerts has brought live entertainment back to the Redland Performing Arts Centre stage following the COVID-19 closures. This initiative is delivered in partnership with Creative Arts Alliance and East Coast Originals and has been an opportunity to share and celebrate the original talents of local musicians.
Carole Williams brings 20 years of experience in cabaret, theatre, entertainment and writing. Ms Williams has quickly established herself as a local favourite and featured in last year's Christmas by Starlight and starred as Donna in the Ipswich Musical Theatre Company's production of Mamma Mia. Carole will be performing for the Brisbane Jazz Club in September and has also recently had her original music selected for review in a Ben Folds' songwriting masterclass.
Also performing is Sounds Original founder Aislinn Sharp. Ms Sharp said she wrote pop songs to make people feel, move, and connect.
Most recent originals are The Wall and Matter, both produced this year.
Opening the concert will be teenage soprano Leah Lever, 18, of Victoria Point. Ms Lever is now in her third year at the University of Southern Queensland studying Bachelor of Music, the youngest to be accepted at the university at age 15. Ms Lever was named Redlands Young Citizen of the Year in 2017and recorded her first EP at age 13.
Ms Lever said she was excited to perform again, particularly on what she calls her "home stage".
"This was the first stage I ever performed on. I feel I have grown up on the RPAC stage,' Ms Lever said.
Her first performance was in 2012, when at age 10, she performed the Australian national anthem at a local citizenship award ceremony.
At the RPAC Live event, Ms Lever will perform four original songs, something she said she has never had the opportunity to do before. One of the songs entitled Never Far From You was written as a gift to her mother for mother's day.
"I wanted Mum to know that wherever I am, we are never far away from one another."
"I hope that by performing these songs, I can share something of myself with the audience and connect on a deeper level. It's my way of giving something back that is personal. I hope the audience can feel the songs and relate to them somehow," she said.
Ms Lever said the live event was also an opportunity to connect with a wider audience.
"I hope I can reach a new audience and that people of all ages can enjoy the music," she said.
