AN inaugural workshop to empower victims of domestic violence is planned for Cleveland next month.
Workshop organiser Karen Lindsay said she was working on a community based project to give women, who had come from a domestic violence situation knowledge around their finances.
"We know that coming out of a situation like this is hard and is important to get started and back on their feet," she said.
The workshop will be held on Saturday October 10 in Cleveland - venue to be confirmed due to COVID restrictions.
The workshop will cover issues including opening a bank account, the differences between debit and credit cards as well as using savings to purchase your own home and everything in between.
'We are aiming to share the knowledge of experts to enable participants to make empowered decisions and give them the strength to continue to break the cycle," Ms Lindsay said.
The workshop is free and there will also be an opportunity for participants to receive one on one attention specific to their situation if requested.
Ms Lindsay said the vision was to continue to run these workshops throughout the year and in and around Brisbane.
