SEALINK Travel Group which operate ferries to the Southern Moreton Bay Islands says a COVID-19 plan is in place for passenger safety.
A SeaLink spokesman said the master and deckhand working on the ferry used by a woman from Russell Island who tested positive for COVID-19, were tested and were awaiting the results before returning to work.
"At present no staff are sick or presenting symptoms, any staff member that is not feeling well regardless of the reason is told to seek medical advice, a process that has been in place since March," she said.
Staff had masks and were encouraged to wear them but this was not mandatory.
"We are actively promoting and encouraging our customers to adhere to social distancing on board, and to use good hygiene practices," she said.
Ferries also have hand sanitisers and cleaning stations for passengers and employees. According to SeaLink vessels were deep cleaned daily, in addition to the crew conducting regular cleaning of the seats and other touch points.
