POLICE say a fire which broke out at North Stradbroke Island last week may have been deliberately lit.
Firefighters were on scene all day working to contain the fire through back burning with the help of water bombing aircraft.
Sergeant Darren Scanlan said Queensland Fire and Emergency Services investigators and police examined the scene on Saturday.
"It appears the fire has been deliberately lit," he said.
Police are calling for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact Dunwich police on 3409 6020 or PoliceLink on 131 444.
It comes almost exactly a year after blazes broke out at the Scenic Rim, destroying thousands of hectares.
Last year's extreme fire season prompted Queensland police to develop a task force to investigate suspicious fires across the state, with commissioner Katarina Carroll condemning the actions of people who lit fires with an intent to cause damage.
Bushfire season in Queensland runs from late July to February.
