RESIDENTS have named some of the top Redlands hooning hotspots.
The new technology will add to the existing network of thousands of traffic cameras across the state.
After the announcement, residents took to social media to name some of the Redlands' worst spots for hoons.
On Facebook, Wellington Point resident Candice Stone said reckless drivers caused a racket late on Thursday and Friday nights between Wellington Point Village and the recreation reserve.
"They honestly sound like some of them head up the road from the point at 200km/h," she said.
"I weekly wake up with such a fright that I think they are going to crash into our house."
School of Arts Road in Redland Bay was named by several residents, with one saying it was "like a race track" on some nights.
Some readers suggested a local track be built where drivers could have their fun safely and legally.
"If the government made a big concrete or gravel pad for everyone to go have their fun, it wouldn't happen where it does," Ashlee Johnson said.
"There's so many roads around Brisbane that have skid marks on them and if everyone wanted to list them all we'd be here for hours.
"The tracks are so expensive for some so if they made a pad for everyone with cheap entry or free and everyone cleans up after themselves it would settle it all."
Neil Playford said such methods had been trialled in the past and were proven to work.
Traffic calming methods like speed bumps, roundabouts or lower speed limits often do not deter hoons, but law enforcement and impounding the vehicles of serious and repeat offenders are effective.
