Singer songwriter Evangie has made some serious traction with the release of Japan on the Triple J Unearthed charts.
A past Coolnwynpin state school student, Evangie, 20, produced the debut single, channeling indie rockers Jess Day and Paramore and adding her own nostalgia and honesty.
Japan was produced by Brock Weston.
Evangie has also been selected to perform for Bigsound this year through her university JMC Academy.
Her work is described as emotive story telling, connecting and relating through her lyrics.
Japan lays bare loneliness and the comfort in being alone. Its soundscape is soft vocals and angelic harmonies in the verses, followed by head bopping indie rock with grungy guitar solos.
She is joined by a four-piece band. Japan is available on live streaming services from October 16.
