World leaders from the Dalai Lama to Australia's own Scott Morrison have congratulated Jacinda Ardern on her re-election as New Zealand prime minister.
Ms Ardern's Labour party won an unprecedented majority in Saturday's election, storming to victory and a second term in government.
The 40-year-old said she received a "few lovely messages" from world leaders including the Australian PM, ahead of the second Bledisloe Cup Test at Eden Park on Sunday.
"Scott Morrison was very quick off the bat last night but also reminded me of our wager today on the rugby," Ms Ardern said.
"I've had the Prime Minister of Denmark (Mette Frederiksen), Pedro Sanchez of Spain.
"And, of course, (UK Prime Minister) Boris Johnson reached out as well, (Canadian Prime Minister) Justin Trudeau."
A spokesman for Mr Morrison said he passed on congratulations "to PM Ardern, Clarke and Neve".
Opposition and fellow Labour leader Anthony Albanese also gave his support, using Ms Ardern's slogan when tweeting "Kiwis have voted to keep New Zealand moving for three more years."
Mr Johnson tweeted his congratulations in the wee hours of NZDT, writing "From our work together to tackle climate change to forging an exciting new trade partnership, the UK and NZ have great things to look forward to in the future."
Ms Ardern's response to the Christchurch Mosques attack last year and willingness to tackle causes such as climate change have made her a darling of the world-wide left.
Canada's liberal next-gen leader Justin Trudeau, who also won a second term last year, hailed Ms Ardern's progressive platform.
"Whether it's fighting climate change, empowering women and girls around the world, or ensuring equitable vaccine distribution, I look forward to continuing our work together," he Tweeted.
The political leaders were also joined by a spiritual leader, the leader of Tibetan Buddhism.
"I admire the courage, wisdom and leadership you have shown in these challenging times," His Holiness wrote.
"During my several visits to your beautiful country over the years I have been deeply touched by the openness and warmth of people from all walks of life.
"I particularly applaud the way you have responded with calm, compassion and respect for others in the face of tragedy."
