Australia Post chief executive Christine Holgate has defended the timing of a VIP postal centre tour provided to Pauline Hanson.
The One Nation leader toured the Brisbane facility in July, less than two weeks after Australia Post delivered more than 100 party-branded stubby holders to locked down public housing towers in Melbourne.
The organisation was also courting the minor party's two crucial votes on a Senate motion, which would have rolled back pandemic-inspired delays to deliveries.
Ms Holgate was quizzed about the stubby holder delivery at a Senate estimates hearing in Canberra on Thursday.
"It was coincidence," she said after being asked about a link to Senator Hanson's guided tour.
Senator Hanson sent the parcels after saying many residents of the towers couldn't speak English, while some were drug addicts and alcoholics.
The stubby holders were plastered with the words "I've got the guts to say what you're thinking" and came with a hand-written note that read: "No hard feelings."
Australia Post executive Rod Barnes said the City of Melbourne contacted police over the delivery.
He said the 114 stubby holders were among 300 items to hit delivery hurdles when hundreds of residents were locked down after a coronavirus outbreak.
"Our first attempt on the Wednesday, we were not comfortable with the security of the mail, which included these packages," Mr Barnes said.
"That was a quick and tense situation police were dealing with."
The stubby holders were eventually delivered to residents of the North Melbourne tower.
Australia Post has previously admitted contacting the City of Melbourne and Senator Hanson over the delivery but denied threats to call the police.
