LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
* Queensland will open its NSW border on December 1, when the travel restrictions for Victoria will also be dropped provided there are no new infections. A decision on the state's restrictions with SA has been delayed as health authorities keep a close eye on case numbers.
* Qantas and Jetstar will put on an additional 1200 return flights to Queensland from NSW and Victoria in the lead-up to Christmas as a result of the Queensland government's decision.
* WA remains defiant with Premier Mark McGowan unapologetic for his hard border stance that continues to shut the state off from large parts of the country.
* Meanwhile, the second wave that ravaged Victoria is over, with no active cases for the first time in nearly nine months.
* South Australia's cluster has grown to 29 people after two cases in hotel quarantine - one diagnosed on Tuesday - were linked to the outbreak that sparked a short-lived lockdown.
* In NSW, Premier Gladys Berejiklian has been forced to admit she did not follow the state's health guidelines stipulating people must isolate after taking a COVID-19 test.
* Prime Minister Scott Morrison is confident Australians will start receiving a coronavirus vaccine early next year after more encouraging late-stage trials.
* The AstraZeneca-University of Oxford candidate has reported up to 90 per cent effectiveness, while Pfizer and Moderna's candidates reported a 95 per cent effectiveness rate. Australia has a contract for 33.8 million doses of the Oxford vaccine and a contract for 10 million doses of Pfizer's.
* Hopes of international travel are growing with the success of coronavirus vaccine trials. Qantas is part of a push by world airlines to require international travellers to prove they've had the jab before flying in or out of a country.

* There were 13 new cases recorded in Australia - six in NSW, four in WA, and one each in Queensland, the Northern Territory and South Australia. All cases were diagnosed in hotel quarantine.
* The national death toll is 907: Victoria 819, NSW 55, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 6, SA 4, ACT 3. (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).
