PARAMEDICS have been busy in the Redlands this week, with a number of people injured in traffic incidents across the city.
Alarmingly, two people were taken to hospital in a serious condition after a car crashed into a tree at Mount Cotton yesterday afternoon.
Just hours later another person was hospitalised, this time in a stable condition, after a single-vehicle crashed into a tree at Birkdale.
An elderly man and woman were involved in the first incident, which occurred near the intersection of Double Jump and Mount Cotton roads about 3.18pm on Wednesday.
The second incident took place at Birkdale Road, with paramedics called to the scene about 7.23pm on the same day.
A man, reportedly suffering from chest pain, was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Hours later, a woman in her 50s was taken to a local health care facility in a stable condition after a motorised scooter and vehicle crash at Point Lookout
The woman sustained a head injury and abrasions in the incident at Samarinda Way, with paramedics called to the scene about 11.13pm.
Earlier in the week, a man and woman were hospitalised after a crash at the intersection of Shore Street West and Gordon Street.
Emergency services had to free a man from his vehicle after the incident.
On Tuesday night, paramedics - including the critical care team - attended a motorcycle and car crash about 7.18pm at the intersection of Old Cleveland Road East and Riverton Drive.
A man aged in his 40s sustained a head injury in the crash and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.
A woman was also transported to hospital for precautionary reasons.
The state's road toll stands at 245 with a month still to go until the new year and the busy Christmas period to come.
Police ran a holiday road campaign last year to crack down on the fatal five during the festive season.
Operation Romeo Sleigh ran for about seven weeks throughout December and January.
