JUST in time for the school holidays, the Wellington Point street library boasts not only children's books, but good reads for all ages.
Wellington Point State High School unveiled a community library outside the school gates on Badgen Road with help from the Children's Book Council of Australia.
Library teacher Robyn Barr applied for the library box and Judith Russell from the Queensland branch of the Children's Book Council of Australia said the school was a worthy recipient.
The nearest library for Wellington Point residents is either Capalaba or Cleveland. The community library will be a convenient stop for bookworms wanting to get into a good book these holidays.
"We are delighted to be providing the library. It promotes reading and that's what we are all about," Ms Russell said.
Art teacher Tamara Beale painted the box with jacaranda flowers and curlews.
"I thought it was appropriate as we have curlews nesting at the school and the jacarandas flowering always signals exam time in Queensland," she said.
Anyone can use the library to borrow books or swap out their books for new ones.
