IN the foyer of an apartment block in Cleveland stands a festive delight, a unique crochet Christmas tree.
Residents living in the Reflections Cleveland building formed a craft group in February this year, meeting every Monday in the activities room on the ground floor.
About six weeks ago the 12 members embarked on a creative task of crocheting 280 colourful squares for a giant Christmas tree.
The idea had caught Christine Anderson's eye on social media when a similar tree was made in Italy.
The friends started sewing, threading and collecting decorations for the project.
Sue Veijalainen said they crocheted at the meeting but mostly at home at night.
Each member has a unique craft including knitting, card work, embroidery and even colouring-in.
"When we meet we do our own crafts, but also get a chance to have a coffee and a chat," Ms Anderson said.
While the group was busy crocheting squares, Ms Veijalainen's husband made a wooden frame, which was covered in bubble wrap before the tree was slipped on like a giant sock.
"No square is the same and bling including buttons, bells and beads were added. There are no lights needed as the silver sparkles through," Ms Anderson said.
The festive tree will stand in the foyer of the building for all the residents to admire.
