A SATELLITE hospital promised for the swinging electorate of Redlands in the run up to the state election has been relocated to Cleveland on budget documents.
The satellite hospital or clinic had been earmarked for Weinam Creek, Redland Bay, but when budget papers went before Parliament this week the clinic was marked on a map for Cleveland.
Redland MP Kim Richards said the preferred site remained Weinam Creek and that the document was in error and would be corrected.
"The preferred site as announced during the election campaign for the satellite hospital is Redland Bay and we will be delivering on our election commitment," she said.
A Health spokesperson confirmed the budget document was being corrected.
Oodgeroo MP Mark Robinson said Cleveland residents would be angry if a health service set for them was shifted elsewhere for political motives.
"If the Palaszczuk government can't tell the difference between Cleveland and Redland Bay on a map, what hope have they got of delivering this election commitment when they don't even know where they are building it?" he said.
Mr Robinson said the episode was irregular and there was now a rush to fix the problem.
"It's a mess and appears to be Labor shifting it from Cleveland to Redland Bay to save Ms Richard's bacon," he said.
The seat of Redland is a battleground for Labor and the LNP, with it swinging from party to party.
Ms Richards holds the seat for a second term.
Treasurer Cameron Dick delivered his first state budget on Tuesday unveiling the Regional Action Plans Map for Brisbane and Redlands.
Big spends are planned for Redland Hospital, North Stradbroke Island development, and the satellite hospital as Labor made good on election promises.
Part of a $265 million total spend has been set aside for seven satellite hospitals, with Redland Bay being one location.
Health Minister Yvette D'Arth told Parliament that Redlands was the preferred site
"We announced that during the election. We reaffirm that again now," she said.
