THE south-east could be in for a gloomy week, with a trough moving from the west towards the coast bringing rain and possible storms.
Weather Bureau meteorologist Rosa Hoff said rainfall on the south-east coast would pick up from Wednesday and into Thursday as the trough approached.
A storm is likely for much of the region on Wednesday, with an 80 per cent chance of showers.
Beaudesert and the Redlands could cop up to 25mm, while Logan could receive up to 15mm.
Wednesday will also bring the week's hottest temperatures, with the mercury to reach 31 degrees. It could be the hottest day since early December for the Redlands.
Beaudesert could also be in for a storm on Tuesday, but rainfall is expected to be minimal.
There are also high chances of showers on Thursday, with up to 15mm forecast.
Showers are also on the cards for Friday and the weekend, but falls will start to decrease.
It comes as parts of northern Queensland gear up for wild weather to continue, as ex-Tropical Cyclone Imogen tracks east.
Normanton copped close to 300mm overnight.
Formerly a category 1 cyclone, it was downgraded to a tropical low on Monday.
Ms Hoff said the system was tracking east.
