REDLANDERS can celebrate Australia Day with entertainment, food and fun at free community events organised by Redland City Council.
There will be entertainment and a feast of local foods as part of what is known as the Great Australian Bites at Raby Bay Foreshore Park from 11am to 3pm on the day.
Kick back as Torres Strait Islander singer, songwriter and musician Chris Tamwoy and local artists deliver some great sounds.
Celebrity chef Alastair McLeod will shine a culinary spotlight on Redlands, with cooking demonstrations, while some of our best food producers and food trucks will serve up delectable treats.
Mayor Karen Williams said the community could also enjoy live music, activities and food truck delights in other areas of Redlands Coast from 11am to 3pm.
"These pop-up park events will bring the community together to celebrate the contribution that every Australian makes to our nation, from our traditional owners, who have been here for more than 65,000 years, to others who have lived here for generations and those who have come from across the world to call Australia home.
"At Wellington Point Reserve, the ever-popular Little Steely Brothers will entertain, while Capalaba Regional Park will feature activities for our younger residents, including a reptile show and children's stage entertainment.
"Or head to Mount Cotton Community Park and enjoy jumping castles as well as some great music and food trucks.
"...It would be appreciated if everyone celebrating outdoors could assist by being patient and respectful of others," she said.
"To help keep our community safe, these events will have COVID-safe measures in place, including a limit on the number of people permitted inside the event fencing, and it is especially important that people adhere to physical distancing and regular hand washing or sanitising."
(The following event has been cancelled) North Stradbroke Island will also be featured across the nation on Australia Day as an audience-free concert performed by Australian singer and songwriter Troy Cassar-Daley is broadcast from the island by SBS, NITV and Network 10.

Australia Day events will be at Raby Bay Foreshore Park, Masthead Drive, Cleveland and entertainment will include Chris Tamwoy, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations by Alastair McLeod, wine and craft beer bar, and cultural demonstrations. Limited to 1500 people.
Wellington Point Reserve will be limited to 1000 people. Capalaba Regional Park will be limited to 1000 people.
