RAYS senior teams started the post-Christmas season with wins on their first week back after the holiday break, with all teams except division 4 playing at home.
In a rain-hit game, Rays women's team recorded their first win in club competition with a resounding 11-0 victory over the combined Windsor Royals/All Stars team.
Starting pitcher Emma Flatley kept the opposition scoreless, with six strikeouts in two innings while safe hits by Trish Joce, Regina Stone and Flatley kept runners moving round the diamond.
A double play by Flatley Stone ended Royals' third inning without scoring.
The division 1 Rays played two and a half games against Pine Hills Lightning, winning two and losing one.
The half game was the completion of the rain-delayed game from October 25, suspended after two innings with the score at 3-0.
The game resumed at the third inning with Pine Hills scoring another two runs in the bottom of the 7th.
A home run by Kyle Pike in the top of the 9th brought three runners home but it was not enough to win the game with the final score 5-3 to Pine Hills.
In the first post-Christmas Friday night game, the score was tied at one in bottom of 5th, with Pine Hills adding another run at the top of the 6th.
A single by Tom Ward scored one, a double by Hayden Michie from the first pitch scored three runners, and a single by Kailen Hamson scored one to end the 6th at 7-2 to Rays.
Luke Cronan led the pitching for Rays, surrendering two runs on seven hits over six innings and striking out six.
At Sunday's second game of the series, Rays fought hard from a 4-2 score at the bottom of the 7th to draw at 4-4 at the end of the inning causing a tie-breaker which ended the game with a dramatic 5-4 victory to Rays when Pine Hills pitcher walked Tom Ward with loaded bases.
Jake Turcato led the batting with two hits from three at bats including a double.
Planning is underway for Rays upcoming 25th anniversary celebrations on the weekend of February 19 to 21.
The committee hopes to reunite the first ever a-grade team and their opponents at a meet and greet on Friday.
All Rays teams will be playing at home throughout the weekend and there will be activities planned for each day. Further details will be posted on Rays' Facebook page in coming weeks.
