SEVERE thunderstorms have been detected on the weather radar near Brisbane CBD.
According to the Weather Bureau of Meteorology these thunderstorms are slow moving.
They are forecast to affect Slacks Creek, Tingalpa Reservoir, Logan City and Greenbank.
The heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in some areas.
Redland City LDMG has issued warnings via its email service.
A total of 4mm of rain has fallen in Logan City since 9am this morning with Redlands recording 18.2mm.
Temperatures in Redlands are expected to reach 23°C with Logan City at 28°C today.
A total of 65mm rainfall has been recorded within an hour at Banksia Beach (Bribie Island) .
Redland City Council has established sandbagging stations.
Council Depot Cleveland - 199-205 South St, Cleveland.
Council staff and SES will be onsite to assist. Sand, bags and shovels will be supplied.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
