NEWLY opened seaside bungalows at Amity Point are bringing a slice of overseas luxury to North Stradbroke Island for pandemic holiday-makers.
It comes as the island recovers from last year's travel ban, which saw tourists shut out to stop the spread of coronavirus.
The accommodation - called Belles on Ballow - features four refurbished lodges overlooking Moreton Bay, a cabana bar, inground pool and jetty.
A six bedroom holiday house is also set to open on the one and a half acre block, meaning the resort will be able to accommodate up to 35 people at capacity.
The lodges - which are self-contained and include air conditioning, a barbecue and television - start at $1665 a week.
Eco-tourism has been sought after on the island for a number of years as it transitions away from its reliance on sand mining, which ceased at the end of 2019.
Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation has campaigned for the island to become a global eco-tourism destination, which would see it showcase its cultural heritage and natural environment to visitors.
Karen Garrett from Straddie Sales and Rentals, who manage Belles on Ballow, said the accommodation would be popular with holidaymakers and as an events venue for weddings and conferences.
"Straddie is a much-loved holiday destination where waterfront holiday properties are a scarce commodity," she said.
"At capacity, Belles on Ballow will be able to accommodate between 30 to 35 guests across the various bungalow and holiday home accommodation facilities.
"Straddie is also a very popular wedding destination, yet finding a waterfront location where nuptials and a reception can take place - plus accommodate large groups of guests all in the one location - doesn't exist so Belles on Ballow will now be able to provide that opportunity."
Ms Garrett said among the attractions at the holiday site included watching the sunset at the cabana bar or jetty.
"Whether you like fishing, relaxing by the sea, beach driving, snorkelling or swimming, kayaking or throwing the tinny in, Belles on Ballow is the perfect holiday destination," she said.
The accommodation is within walking distance of Toompany Beach, Amity general store, public transport, the Amity jetty, boat ramp and four-wheel-drive access to Flinders Beach.
