FILMING for television show Young Rock has returned to the Redlands, with a Raby Bay house and other places on the waterfront recently used for the NBC production.
The series, which chronicles the formative years of former professional wrestler and Hollywood superstar Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, is being filmed at different locations across south-east Queensland.
Capalaba and Wynnum hosted film crews in October last year, with scenes shot at places like Wicked Brew Cafe on Dollery Road.
Movie star Johnson sent out a message to fans on social media about a month later, thanking Australian cast and crew as well as directors for their work on the project.
Raby Bay's Foreshore Park, Sentinel Court and a private home were the latest Redlands locations used for the project.
Mayor Karen Williams said Young Rock was the most recent in a long-list of movie and television credits for Redlands locations.
She said the area had proved an attractive spot for filmmakers since the first major production, The Chronicles of Narnia, was shot at Raby Bay in 2010.
"Superstar Angelina Jolie then brought her Unbroken production to the bayside in 2013, with Pirates of the Caribbean landing in 2017," Cr Williams said.
"During the next two years, Aquaman, Tidelands, Safe Harbour, Harrow, Reef Break and Love and Monsters all followed.
"Even last year, when Australia's film and television industry was severely affected by shutdowns due to the COVID-19 restrictions, Eureka Productions chose the Redlands Coast for filming of Holey Moley."
Cr Williams said few locations could provide the same calibre of settings as Redlands, with Screen Queensland's Hemmant studios just 35 minutes away.
"From calm water settings in Moreton Bay to our beaches and breathtaking vistas like the North Gorge Walk on North Stradbroke Island, Redlands Coast offers stunning locations and friendly communities all within our city boundary," she said.
"With our commitment to economic development, the Redlands Coast continues to build its reputation as an ideal location for international movie shoots and Australian television production."
American actor Bradley Constant has been seen playing the role of Dwayne Johnson.
