ORMISTON COLLEGE'S learning and innovation centre is up for a gong at the Australian Library Design Awards.
The centre - which opened in 2019 - features a recording studio with green screen technology, an outdoor stage, cafes and library spaces.
Students have access to a range of technology, including drones, a holographic wearable computer and 3D printers.
The Australian Library Design Awards, organised by the Australian Library and Information Society, are now into their third year and recognise design excellence in new and refurbished libraries across Australia.
A total of 33 buildings have been nominated this year.
Ormiston College principal Brett Webster said the space encouraged teamwork and individual study to reflect real-world working environments.
"Our students will be ready to step into any university or workplace with confidence, having experienced the benefits of learning in an interactive space that is truly reflective of society's modern, divergent, flexible and dynamic thinking," he said.
Australian Library Design Awards chief executive Sue McKerracher said Ormiston had designed its library to encourage and inspire students to learn.
The winners in each award category - public, school, academic, special and ALIA member's choice - will be announced at the Changing Spaces Library Design Conference.
Registrations for the event, to be held on March 18, are now open.
