Women of Their Word will return to the Redland Museum on March 26, 27 and 28 as a celebration of this year's International Women's Day.
Women of Their Word is a celebration of Australian women poets, writers who captured their times and their experiences in verse that still delights lovers of language.
The play is written by Jan Nary as a series of individual vignettes interwoven with music from Donna Magrath. It brings to life notable women Maybanke Anderson, Dorothy Hewett, Judith Wright, Leona Kyling and Dame Mary Gilmore, all of whom found their voice in poetry.
Through a blend of narrative and verse, the series of vignettes offers insights into the women behind the words, showing what inspired them, the challenges they faced and the contribution they made to Australia's emerging cultural identity.
Tickets are $30 and $25 with evening performances on March 26 and 27 and a matinee on March 28. Savoury platters and Devonshire teas can be pre ordered.
