HUNDREDS of people are using a council app to snap up discounted food at The Grand View Hotel in Cleveland.
Assistant venue manager Nicole Neucom said people had travelled from outside the Redlands to cash in on the pub's meal deals, which had been made available on the Redlands Coast Deals and Rewards App.
The business, who started using the app earlier this year, is now offering a two-for-one coffee and cake special during April in a move it expects will attract cyclists and walkers from around the area.
"We had people telling us that they came from north Brisbane for the day, just so they could use the app discount to dine at the Grand View," Ms Neucom said.
"Other diners who travelled from Ipswich and the Gold Coast said they had decided to visit Redlands Coast after seeing the Grand View Hotel on the app.
"This success definitely took us by surprise, with many more diners taking advantage of last month's offer than we had expected."
Mayor Karen Williams said the app was designed to support local businesses by giving people access to exclusive offers and deals.
She said the app also provided users with local tourism information, including holiday guides, accommodation listings and tours and attractions.
"Redlands Coast is a city of diverse, naturally wonderful bushland areas, villages and islands, each with its own personality, adventures and treasures," Cr Williams said.
The app, launched in November 2019, is free to businesses and gives them total control over deal offerings.
Cr Peter Mitchell said it was wonderful to see the app bringing more visitors and customers to Cleveland.
"I encourage local businesses to submit their deals to the App through the Redlands Coast website," he said
To download the app for free, visit the Apple App store or Google Play.
