LOCAL aged care residents raised their teacups to mums across the Redlands on Wednesday at a Mother's Day high tea.
Six Marebello residents, aged between 80 and 96, took a trip to the historic Station Master's Cottage on Wednesday for tea and cake, courtesy of the Redlands Centre for Women.
Marebello lifestyle co-ordinator Jo Fazio said the residents had enjoyed getting out into the community.
"There's nothing nicer than being made to feel special," she said.
"A lot of our residents are long-term locals so it's nice for them to see changes in the historic Cleveland Station Master's Cottage.
"They had a wonderful time.
"We're hugely thankful to the Redlands Centre for Women."
The centre's Leigh Wilson said with aged care homes hit hard by COVID-19, it was important for residents to have opportunities to get out into the community.
"We're glad we could give these ladies a bit of happiness," she said.
"With COVID-19 it's great to see them getting out. Mother's Day is such a special occasion."
Mother's Day is on Sunday, May 9.
It comes ahead of the Redlands Centre for Women's garage sale, to be held on May 15 from 6am to 12pm at the Station Master's Cottage.
