THE Salvation Army is calling on Redlanders to become digital doorknockers during the Red Shield Appeal.
The charity aims to raise $32 million during this year's fundraising event, with the money to help more than 2000 centres and services across Australia.
People can become a digital doorknocker by creating an online fundraising page and sharing it with family, friends and the community.
Salvos are also looking for people to collect money in the community during the appeal.
Bayside church leader Natalie Frame said Salvos would be unable to help people without the public's generosity.
"The Redlands community have always faithfully backed the Salvos, and this year we need people to volunteer and raise funds to ensure that we can continue the work in the community for years to come," she said.
"Last year, through the generous support of the community during the Red Shield Appeal, we were able to continue to provide emergency relief and support to families right across the Redlands experiencing hard times as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges of life."
Money raised locally this year would be used to support Redlands households in need of crisis support and employ a community engagement worker.
"The Salvos cannot do what we do without the generosity of the public in our community," Ms Frame said.
"If you have the means, please consider donating to the Red Shield Appeal or become a volunteer this year.
"Your generosity and support will help us to leave no one in need."
Salvos supported more than 40,000 people experiencing homelessness and distributed 1.5 million meals through homelessness services last year.
