Redland locals Peter and Pauline Walker brought family and friends together to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary last weekend.
The Victoria Point couple was married in Yorkshire in the UK on May 20, 1961, and migrated to Australia with their three children in 1977.
They have remained in the Redlands area since, Peter working as a television technician and Pauline a seamstress until their retirement.
The couple's family has grown, with six grandchildren and two great grandchildren who celebrated with them at Elysium Restaurant Bar in Victoria Point on Sunday.
Their middle child, Catherine Carr, said her parents had been enjoying the celebrations.
"They were very excited when they got their letter from the Queen, and they also got letters from the PM and the Governor-General," Ms Carr Said.
Peter and Pauline are members of the Victoria Point community, regularly attending the YMCA gym and walking when they are not on holidays, cruising or visiting family in the UK.
Ms Carr said her parent's long and happy marriage was thanks to their never-ending support and will to compromise.
"The secret is some give and take I suppose, and not sweating the small stuff," she said.
The Walkers hope to go on a cruise to New Zealand at the end of the year and look forward to many more holidays together.
