FOUR Redlanders from local community organisations have been honoured during National Volunteers Week.
Richard Rogers, Graham Williams, Ross Nichol and Jasmine Vesters were given volunteer of the year awards at the Celebration of Volunteers event hosted by STAR Community Services on Saturday.
The award winners came from Redland City Lions Club, Sailability Bayside, Mission to Seafarers, and Love and Hope Redlands respectively.
STAR General Manager Patsy Wilshere said volunteers were the backbone of the community, always giving up their time to support others.
"At STAR, we are fortunate to have more than 180 volunteers support the elderly and those with disabilities," she said.
"The current pandemic has highlighted the importance of volunteers in our local community.
"The Celebration of Volunteers event is our opportunity to thank all our community volunteers and show our appreciation for their selfless acts."
The event - held at Raby Bay Harbour Park in Cleveland - featured live performances, food trucks, rides, family-friendly activities and a laser display.
Performers included the Cleveland State School Primary Choir, Redland City Ukuleles and Rockit Productions.
Melly and the Madmen also got crowds moving with music from the 1920s to 1940s.
Among the other community organisations at the event were Abundance College, Brisbane Bayside Crime Stoppers, U3A Redlands District, Redlands Museum, Girl Guides and SES Cleveland.
