AN ISLANDER wants to contact a good Samaritan who helped him get back to Coochiemudlo after a visit to Redland Hospital.
John Clark, better known as Croc, said he wanted to repay the woman who helped him get home by donating money to a charity of her choosing and paying for her to have a night out.
Mr Clark, 72, said he was stranded on the mainland without a wallet after being treated for chest pain at the hospital.
"I didn't have any money for a taxi, I didn't have my Go Card to catch the bus or anything," he said.
"I sat there for about four hours and I had been trying to get people to message my friend next door (on Coochie) so he could come and get me, but that wasn't working."
Mr Clark said a woman named Kate, a disability worker from Wynnum, saw him struggling and handed over every last dollar in her purse to help him get home.
"I wasn't enough money for a taxi and I started to walk over towards the bus but realised they don't take any money these days," he said.
"I went back to the emergency waiting room and she was there waiting for her client.
"She turned around and said 'I will drive you back to the jetty'."
Mr Clark has lived on Coochiemudlo Island since 1991, having retired at 36 after working as a farmer and coal miner.
He holds a couple of hang gliding world records and helped launch the Brucellosis campaign that started the eradication of feral cattle in the Northern Territory.
Brucellosis is a bacterial infection that spreads from animals to people, mainly through eating raw or unpasteurized dairy products.
Mr Clark said he had tried tracking down Kate on social media, but did not have any luck.
"I hope someone along the way is going to help me find this young lady so I can reward her," Mr Clark said.
"I think what she did is marvelous. Who walks up to a stranger and offers them every last dollar in their purse?"
