AN 18-year-old woman allegedly gouged a police officer with her fingernails while being arrested at Capalaba Park Shopping Centre last week.
It is alleged the woman also hit the officer in the head after she was suspected of stealing from a retailer.
The officer questioned the woman after staff at the store made police aware of her behaviour.
She was arrested after refusing to return to the shop.

The 18-year-old was charged with three counts of stealing, common assault and serious assault of a police officer.
She was granted bail at Cleveland Magistrates Court on Wednesday and is due to reappear on June 24.
Boy robbed at Victoria Point
A 12-year-old Mount Cotton boy has been dealt with under the Youth Justice Act after another child was robbed at Victoria Point last week.
Police allege an 11-year-old boy had personal items stolen from him at Benfer Road.
The incident was reported to Cleveland Police on Friday, June 4.
Investigations are ongoing to identify other people involved in the theft.
Machete and hammer used in late-night crime
Update 2.30pm, June 8
A 31-year-old woman and 26-year-old man have been arrested after an alleged robbery at Chandler last week.
The pair were charged with entering a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence, robbery with violence, and drug-related offences.
They are due to appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on June 9.
Earlier
A MACHETE and hammer were used to demand money in a brazen late-night incident at Chandler last month.
Police allege a woman and man entered a home on Old Cleveland Road about 11pm on Wednesday, May 25.
They demanded money and personal property while armed, before fleeing the scene in an unknown vehicle.
The Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating the incident.
