Players' union representatives will push for a collective bargaining agreement for the NRLW as the league grapples with how to distribute elite players evenly across the competition.
The NRLW contracting process will begin on Wednesday after club bosses met with the NRL on Tuesday and were presented the points system they will operate under when recruiting.
A central contracting system was also delivered, in which 24 elite stars will be contracted to the NRL with a limit of four allowed to play at each club.
Each of those elite players have been offered a position at one of the six clubs, with those who accepted the offer to formally sign on Wednesday.
Those who knocked back the NRL's preferred destination for them will enter a pool where they can negotiate with other teams.
A further six players will also be centrally contracted as tier two players with one to sign at each club.
The Rugby League Players' Association had pushed for more flexibility with the top 30 centrally contracted positions, with players originally facing being distributed by the NRL without choice.
Players did have the option to turn down the higher paid top 30 deal, but it would come at a monetary loss.
The NRL considers the higher pay grade a reflection of elite status as well as an incentive for players to cooperate and change clubs to ensure an even spread of talent in the newly expanded competition.
Plans to expand to six teams were announced last week after being approved at an ARL Commission meeting in April.
Tuesday's confirmation of the structure of central contracts has left clubs with little time to organise their rosters with the competition to start in August.
And for some elite players, the short notice has them feeling railroaded into contract choices they would have liked more time to make.
The RLPA believes they have been left with no time to properly represent players' concerns before contracts begin rolling out on Wednesday.
A collective bargaining agreement would smooth out the complicated process in the future as the competition expands.
"It's fundamental to agree to a collective agreement because once you do that, you've got a number of things in place and that gives you the certainty and a clearer direction of where we're going, rather than where we are now," RLPA chief executive Clint Newton told AAP.
"The only way you get better outcomes is dedicating time, having the right people at the table and having some clear objectives we all agree on which is about delivering the best possible outcomes for the game, for the players, for the clubs, for the fans and for the future generation of players."
As well as the central contracting model, clubs will work within a points system for recruiting, which acts like a salary-cap to make an attractive product for broadcasters.
However, the hasty design and implementation of the model has raised concerns with some elite players to be forced out of the clubs they have been with for three seasons.
