FIVE girls from Premier Gymnastics are headed to Tokyo for the 2021 Olympics, a dream 25 years in the making for coaches and gymnasts.
They will be the first gymnasts in history to represent Australia in the rhythmic group category at an Olympic games.
Owner of Premier Gymnastics Nicki Robbins said it had been a privilege to be a part of the journey.
"It's a dream come true for the girls and myself as the owner," she said
"This journey has taken five years and they have been so resilient since the games were postponed, and now that they're finally happening it's really added to the excitement."
Emily Abbot, Alannah Mathews, Himeka Onoda, Alexia Aristosteli and Felicity White are the members of the historic group, the vision of decorated rhythmic gymnastics coach Gina Peluso and her late mother Edith.
"Gina has inspired and supported the team and worked so hard to get them to where they are today," Ms Robbins said.
"She and her mother have wanted a group at the Olympics for many years."
The girls, aged 20-25, train 31 hours a week on top of study and part time jobs to fund their gymnastics endeavors.
Ms Peluso will accompany the group on their trip for her third Olympics as a coach.
Ms Robbins said everyone at Premier Gymnastics was looking forward to seeing the girls perform on the world stage.
"It's amazing to have a team of girls all from Brisbane going to the Olympics, it's every little gymnast's dream," she said.
"What's so special about this group is they are the closest of friends, and their group collaboration really shows that."
The girls leave for Canberra July 15 to attend a training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport before they go to Tokyo with the team. They will compete on August 7 and 8.
The group are holding a meet and greet on Tuesday July 13 from 4:30pm at their Morningside facility before the girls leave for Canberra.
Premier Gymnastics will cheer the girls on from home. Ms Robbins planed to televise the events at Premier venues across Brisbane.
They are also selling team shirts and encouraging fans to make posters to show their support.
Ms Robbins said Premier Gymnastics is already recruiting members for the next rhythmic group team they hope to take to the Paris Olympics in 2024, and hoped to find young gymnasts with the Olympics in their sights.
