REDLANDS United have claimed the Women's Legends championship in front of their home fans after downing University of Queensland 3-2 on penalties.
A last minute goal to the visitors took the game to a shootout, but Jamie-Lee Class, Sarah Mapstone and Belinda Martoo held their nerve to secure the win on penalties.
University started the game strongly and were rewarded with the opening goal, but the Redlands centre back pairing of Leanne Terry and Alina Ryan helped turn the tide.
United created plenty of chances just before half time, with a Sarah Mapstone strike forcing a save from the opposition keeper before Lana Woolley shaved the post.
Redlands levelled the score shortly after the break through Charlotte Hood, who later doubled the side's advantage after finding space down the left side of the pitch.
That goal was not enough to seal victory, as University equalised on the back of a weaving run through midfield just one minute out from full-time.
Redlands redeemed themselves in the penalty shootout to take out the game and the championship.
It caps off a highly successful season for the Old Ducks, who lost just one of their 19 games in 2021.
The side also won the minor premiership after finishing the regular season on top of the ladder.
They scored 77 goals across the season and conceded just 11.
