IF you are wondering what to buy a friend for Christmas, you cannot go wrong giving them a ROGI membership, says newly elected Redland Organic Growers Inc president Carolyn Lassen.
Ms Lassen has always enjoyed gardening but she said it was only when she joined ROGI in 2014 that she really saw results.
"Things didn't grow well in my clay soil at Alexandra Hills but I've since learned ways to work around that problem," she said.
"Now I get a thrill out of picking my own salad or greens to go with what I am cooking each night.
"It is the sharing of knowledge and friendships, I value most. ROGI now has 250 members.
"I particularly enjoy the garden visits where we get together and catch up with ideas to make our gardens better and more productive, sometimes bringing home a fruit or seedling with the plan to propagate from it.
"Members also bring plants to give away at meetings."
Carolyn said the group had an excellent library and there were subgroups to satisfy all kinds of gardening interests like seed saving, propagation, and a new biodynamic course hosted by BAYfm 100.3 gardening talkback personality Rohanne Young.
Single membership is $37.50 or $25 for a pensioner.
