Capalaba police are appealing for dash cam footage in their investigation of a motorcycle rider allegedly involved in two separate incidents at Thornlands and Capalaba.
Police allege the motorcycle rider ran a red light while travelling at high speeds at the corner of Boundary and Kinross roads at Thornlands yesterday at 2.30pm.
Police say the second incident was more serious involving a collision with a push-bike rider which careered into the rear tray of a utility vehicle on the Merritt Street intersection of Redland Bay Road at Capalaba at 6am this morning.
The motorcycle rider is alleged to have once again been travelling at high speeds through the Neumann Road intersection before the incident.
The 27-year-old male motorcyclist from New Beith was injured and taken to hospital with wrist, arm and leg injuries.
A 38-year-old Capalaba man who was riding the bicycle was also taken to hospital with minor injuries including grazes and bruises.
The 60-year-old male driver of the utility from Capalaba was not physically injured.
Capalaba station officer in charge Senior Sergeant David Candale said mere centimeteres were the difference between major and minor injuries for the bicycle rider.
"This is a timely reminder for all road users to be mindful of their behaviour, particularly surrounding the 'Fatal Five' and in particular motorcycle riders and excessive speed and distraction," he said.
The Capalaba division has seen five fatal traffic incidents involving motorcycles this year, with excessive speed a major contributing factor in four cases, police say.
The motorcycle, a blue 2013 Yamaha was not registered and had no number plates.
The male rider was wearing grey pants, a black motorcycle jacket, work boots, blue backpack and a black helmet.
Anyone who saw the motorcycle driving in a westerly direction along Redland Bay Road through intersections with Ney Road, Neumann Road and Merritt Street yesterday should contact police.
