Dancing not only has physical health benefits, it can help boost mental health by improving resilience and self-assurance.

Classes at Limited Edition Dance (LED) focus on building confidence and creating positive social connections through dance.

"We ask our students what they would like to 'get out of' our dance classes when they join and the most common answer is 'to grow confidence/self-esteem'," said founder and teacher Soma Karan.

"We're really proud to achieve that for our Students through our classes."

Every term dancers work towards an End of Term Show where they grow their comfort zone by dancing on stage for a supportive audience.

Entering its fifth year of business, LED recently moved to a brand new space in Middle Street, Cleveland which is nearly double the size of its previous studio.

"The first few years were great for finding out what works in business and making it through the lockdowns, and this year we know just how valuable our positive philosophy and fun dance classes are to share with more people," Soma said.

"It feels quite nerve-wracking to be opening a bigger studio when we are facing our highest COVID numbers yet, but I know that so many of our dancers will also be feeling that worry in their day to day lives.

"Providing a space for our dancers to have fun, be encouraged and to grow their self-esteem is more important than ever and I'm looking forward to LED being that positive space."

LED runs encouraging and energetic Hip Hop and Contemporary dance classes for dancers aged four years old to adults.

"We're really passionate and intentional about the environment that we create at our studio.

"Everything from the language that our teachers use to provide feedback, to the way we give every student a turn in the front row of their dance, is crafted to build the confidence of our dancers."

Soma and her team have also implemented a new program this year called the 'LED Encouragers'.

The program consists of a video course and homework sheet that outlines ways LED students can contribute to their welcoming and positive atmosphere.

"I know our students are proud to make a difference and help others feel as encouraged as they do in our classes."
