An album recorded at the Redland Performing Arts Centre in February 2021 has been nominated for Best Independent Classical Album or EP in the 2022 AIR Awards.
The Live in Concert album features Cleveland soprano Mirusia and was directed by Shane Calderbank of Alexandra Hills.
The live CD release features songs from opera, Broadway musicals, folk, classical crossover and popular standards.
Mirusia said she felt honoured and proud by the nomination and her fingers crossed for a positive result in August when the winners were announced.
"The album is full of raw emotion. That can sometimes get edited out in a studio, but for so many of us on stage it was a first time back performing, so it was an emotionally charged concert regardless. It was meant to be," she said.
"I am very proud that this was recorded in my home town and is sold internationally. It puts the Redlands on the classical charts," she said.
The nomination follows Mirusia's number one charting ARIA Album Songbird on the classical crossover and AIR charts. It also coincides with her new autobiographical show touring Australia this year.
Mirusia will kick off her Songbird tour in Taree on August 12 with performances until October..
The show follows her life's journey in song from being an aspiring Queensland singer of Australian and Dutch heritage to international soprano sensation touring stadiums with André Rieu and her collaboration with the iconic band, The Seekers.
From her personal songbook, she performs the music that has been most inspiring and shares the stories behind the music. This show will include classics spanning many genres and feature songs from her new album Songbird, including contemporary hits such as The Greatest Love of All, The Long and Winding Road, Jolene, and Fleetwood Mac's ode to love, Songbird.
Mirusia said she was thrilled to be back performing, with a big year planned including her recent annual Mothers' Day show at Twin Towns, shows in Adelaide and Cairns and performances soon in Holland.
