FLASHBACK: March 2010: Depp and his pirates eye Cleveland Point
Has anyone seen Captain Jack Sparrow wandering around Cleveland?
A pirate ship - could it be the Black Pearl or the Dying Gull - turned up late on Friday and is moored at Raby Bay Harbour. But so far there are no signs of pirates.
The ship - believed to be used in the filming of some of the open water scenes of the Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Men Tell No Tales - attracted a steady crowd of onlookers at Cleveland on Saturday.
Most of the decking was kept under wraps as a couple of people could be seen working on the vessel.
Earlier this year, a replica 1897 Scottish trawler bought this year by the producers of the film from Bundaberg man Kit Woodward who had spent 10 years building his dream ship and had taken it on adventures throughout the world.
The producers had been looking for ship to use as Black Pearl or Dying Gull , and Mr Woodward’s ship - The Rainbow Gypsy - fitted the bill.
