Police are searching for the driver of a black hatchback who failed to stop and hit a police officer in Flynn on Monday afternoon. The police officer tried to stop the vehicle on Tillyard Drive about 1.30pm before he was struck and the driver drove away. The police officer was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with minor injuries. Superintendent Corey Heldon said driving a vehicle at another person was a serious offence. "Ignoring a police direction and then deliberately driving at and injuring a police officer is completely unacceptable. "It goes without saying that when a person is struck by a vehicle they can be seriously injured or killed. Thankfully our officer appears to have only sustained minor injuries," he said. Tillyard Drive was closed between Moulder Circuit and Joyner Crescent on Tuesday afternoon and the ACT Policing collision investigation reconstruction team was investigating the incident. Anyone with information or dash-cam footage has been asked to contact ACT Police on 131 444, quoting reference 6377803.
