Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty and the Council's General Manager Bradley Byrnes will visit Canowindra this month to meet with residents and community groups about any issues they may wish to discuss. Cr Beatty and Mr Byrnes will be available at the Council's Canowindra office on Wednesday, November 13 2019 between noon and 4pm. "We understand that residents and organisations from the Canowindra and Eugowra areas may wish to speak directly with the Mayor and General Manager, but don't always have the time or transport to attend a meeting at Council's Molong offices," Cr Beatty said. "It is important to us that everyone has the chance to talk to us about issues or matters that concern them." Cr Beatty said he and Mr Byrnes were very pleased with the response of requests to meet with them in September and wanted to give members of the community the another opportunity before the end of the year. Similar meetings will be conducted next year. Residents or community groups wishing to speak the Mayor and General Manager should book a time by calling the General Manager's Personal Assistant on 6392 3208 or emailing council@cabonne.nsw.gov.au The visit by the general manager and mayor coincides with the Cabonne Master Planning meeting. The Canowindra Business and Progress Association is encouraging Canowindra residents to attend the meeting. "There seems to be some confusion about who should come," the association said in a statement. "We want everybody with an idea for Canowindra, all the schools, all sporting groups and associations to come along. "It could be that you are planning an event in 2020 and have some great ideas to share. "It would be great to have a master Event Timetable so that we don't end up with clashes at different times of the year. "You may have an idea for the (grain) silos, infrastructure required around town, including more toilets, better signage, changes to the main street and marketing ideas for why people should come to Canowindra. "With every village in Cabonne either having completed or meeting to discuss their Master Plan for their Village, it is now Canowindra's turn. "A Master Plan is an essential component of a plan to ensure the future viability of our village, create opportunities for Canowindra, and enable Canowindra to enhance it's community assets and attractions. "Cumnock on completing their Master Plan were successful in attracting substantial grants to enable them to carry out their Plan. "This Master Plan will link into Cabonne Council's Strategic Plan for Canowindra. "What do we want to look like in five years time? "What can we do to attract more people, either as tourists or residents? "What section needs redeveloping." The public meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 13 at 7 pm at the Canowindra Services Club. "Whether as an individual, association, sporting club,or business, we need you," the progress association said. The visit follows a Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) community engagement drop in session held last week in Canowindra to help set out the 20 year vision across Cabonne Shire outlining how growth and change will be managed. Cabonne Shire said the LSPS identifies the unique characteristics of Cabonne and sets the economic, social, and environmental land use direction. Mr Byrnes said, "As part of preparing the plan, Council was undertaking community engagement".
