Auspiced by Connect2Group, 0Oaklands Street Community Gardens brings together Redland and wider bayside community groups and individuals who have an interest in permaculture and organic gardening or who simply enjoy being part of a community activity.
The gardens play host to a range of programs throughout the year, providing support to people with a disability, students, disadvantaged teens, the elderly and people with a mental illness.
Raised garden beds help people of all ages and abilities participate in the gardening experience.
Connect2Group training manager and gardens coordinator Gillian Tilney said hundreds of people regularly enjoyed the tranquil green space while joining in events at the gardens, including cook-ups, open days, workshops, social gatherings, community building, and educational activities.
"Funds raised from the Autumn Splendour Fashion Parade will contribute to the newly designed sensory garden," Gillian said.
"Sensory gardens can stimulate the use of all the faculties of young children and people with a disability, having a beneficial effect on their wellbeing and can help a process of recovery.
"The fashion parade will create a great atmosphere and be lots of fun, all for a really great cause."
The Autumn Splendour Fashion Parade, in support of Oaklands Street Community Gardens, will be held at the gardens, Oaklands Street, Alexandra Hills, on Saturday, May 26, from 10am to 12.30pm.
Entry is $15 per person, with raffles, lucky door prizes, morning tea and a wide range of men's and women's new and pre-loved fashions available for (cash only) sale.
