FLATHEAD have come on the bite throughout South East Queensland.
The pick of locations has been around the mouth of any river or creek, particularly the Pine, Brisbane and Logan rivers and at Jumpinpin and the Broadwater.
The Power Lines to Giant's Grave and the entrance to Swan Bay have been the best areas in Jumpinpin.
The Manly Harbour, Raby Bay entrance, Hayes Inlet and smaller feeder creeks have all produced good catches in Moreton Bay.
Mulloway catches are consistent, but the majority are undersize.
Logan River and Gold Coast Seaway anglers at Jumpinpin report catching lots of fish, but nothing over 60cm.
Prime areas at Jumpinpin include the snags at the Stockyards just south of Slipping Sands, the western shoreline leading towards Swan Bay and anywhere there is an eddy or deeper hole.
A lot of whiting are around and at Jumpinpin good catches have been reported on the banks between Crusoe Island and North Stradbroke Island, in the Jacobs Well straight on the edge of the channels around the Power Lines and the channel that flows around the southern end of Russell Island.
Diver whiting have been found on the western side of Moreton Bay, but the better catches have come from close to Moreton Island near the Sand Hills and Days Gutter area.
Surf anglers reported a few tailor, the biggest struggling to make the 1.5 kilo mark but there are plenty of dart and whiting in the surf which will keep the family fishing with worms or yabbies entertained over the holiday period.
Crab catches have been at a trickle, both muddies and sandies and anglers will need to be persistent to get enough to feed the Christmas visitors.
