SOROPTIMIST International Bayside Inc. recently celebrated 30 years of service to the local community at a dinner.
The Bayside group is part of a worldwide service organisation for women, committed to a world where women and girls together achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities worldwide.
Five of the original chartered members attended the Bayside Soroptimist celebrations; two remain members of the club and another is still a member of SI Logan.
After a traditional Japanese welcome from president Hisako Bucknall, charter members Ralda Forzin and Eileen Mitchell took the audience on a nostalgic journey following the work of SI Redlands (changed to SI Bayside a few years ago) over the years since 1983.
Redland City Councillor (and member of SI Bayside) Wendy Boglary then spoke about the important work done by volunteers in our local community.
Soroptimist International South Queensland regional president Maree Lubach paid tribute to the strong participation of SI Bayside members in service to the organisation in all levels including regional, federation and international positions.
Members look forward to many more years of service at all levels of the organisation and, of course, their local community.
