Faith Lutheran College, Redland students Emily Edmunds, Kiarna Maxwell, Logan Sponseller, Cassidy Sponseller and Tamison Lees have been selected to represent Australia at the Junior Olympic Games in Houston, Texas this month and the World Skipping Championships in Tampa, Florida in August. The girls will be members of Team Australia and will participate in individual and team events.
Emily Edmunds said: “I have been involved with skipping since I was 5-years-old. This is an exciting experience and everyone at school has been so supportive”.
The students have been training for up to 12 hours each week and up to twice a day during the holidays, to ensure they are ready to take on the best skippers from more than 32 countries around the world.
They leave for America this Sunday, July 22.
