News of the royal birth was announced in Cleveland today by Redland City Town Crier Max Bissett.

The Town Crier stood outside the Redland City Council chambers in Bloomfield Street and read a proclamation of the birth and congratulated Catherine and Prince William on behalf of the people of Redland City.
Traditionally, Town Criers were the first to deliver news to a community. These days social media is even faster than television or radio.
The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a boy in London's St Mary's Hospital, at 1.24am, Brisbane time. The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.
