SCAMS, scandals, ring-ins and rogues are all part of the latest offering from Mount Cotton authors Alan and Barry Wood.
From the Track is the brothers' third book delving into the murky, but often humorous, depths of the world of gee-gees.
Like Off the Track and On the Track, this book is illustrated with quirky cartoons from Brian Doyle.
Find out the true story behind Archer, the Melbourne horse who won two Melbourne Cups and how the photo-finish camera robbed the winner of a major race.
Or the uplifting story of a racehorse who went beyond the call of duty for his blind owner.
All three books have been dedicated to Barry's son, Darren, who was unable to outrun the black dog of depression in 2008 and died at the age of 40.
Some of the proceeds from the books goes to beyondblue, an organisation helping people with depression.
Even Queen Elizabeth II loves the brothers' tales after copies of the first two books were sent to Buckingham Palace in 2013.
The brothers received a letter from the palace thanking them for thinking of the Queen and commending them for supporting beyondblue.
But neither is sure whether From the Track will be their last.
Alan and wife Beth moved to Redlands 14 years ago and after retiring in 2010 built a home at Mount Cotton, which offered the best of city and country living.
The brothers have both owned race horses but it is Barry who has a mind like a steel trap and remembers trivia and details about the sport dating back to 1949 when he was five years old.
"A friend of ours was arranging some trivia questions for the local club at the Gold Coast and asked Barry to give him some questions on racing," Alan said.
"After our friend received the quizz, he made the remark, 'gee Baz, you should write a book'. Barry contacted me and away we went true story."
From The Track is published by Five Mile Press, RRP: $32.95
