A Cleveland family has been left devastated after their 10-week-old puppy was stolen from their backyard.
Bobby, a golden retriever, was left tied up at Michelle Barry's Aphrodite Court home on Thursday afternoon as she drove to pick up her children from school.
When she returned 15 minutes later, Bobby was gone and the side gate had been forced open.
Mrs Barry said the family had only had Bobby for two weeks before the theft.
She said the puppy was bought as a playmate for their other golden retriever, Rosie.
"It's just a sickening act," she said.
"I kept Rosie inside for days because I just felt I needed the security. I didn't want to think there was a possibility that she could go missing."
The family is considering leaving the area after the theft, which is the first crime issue they've had during their 12 years in the street.
Bobby's photograph has been shared on social media, while the RSPCA has informed local vets about the theft.
Bobby has registration number 811923. Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area between 2.55pm and 3.10pm on Thursday has been urged to contact Cleveland Police Station on 3824 9333 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
