I refer to the planned development in Wellington Street, Ormiston, and the destruction of an existing koala habitat.
I live at Redland Bay and in the 15 months I have lived here, I have witnessed similar destruction twice in close proximity to me.
A large development in Unwin Road was number one and I watched in horror as huge gum trees, which would have taken decades to grow, were pulled out of the ground one after another.
So much for the birds and other wildlife that were made homeless and left totally disoriented by the loss of this habitat.
Number two also in Unwin Road was a small parcel of land on our back boundary.
The existing buildings, trees and other plant life have been demolished for the sake of 10 building blocks.
Nothing has been left and it is now just a dust bowl waiting for the development to start. So much for the peace and quiet of Redland Bay.
It would appear that the current council is so pro-development that it will approve any development application with no consideration for the existing wildlife and without any requirement for consultation or notice to the residents.
With the trees gone it leaves the environment much poorer for our children and their children.
What happened to the beautiful Redlands that my husband and I have resided in for all of the 42 years?
