I am a local mother of two who is distressed to discover that her children's favourite playground is now directly facing an adult shop in Bloomfield Street, Cleveland.
Historically, Bloomfield Street was designed with children in mind, hence the playground.
It was developed in 1993 as a "streetscape project aimed to bind together the structure of the main street with a series of community projects, including a children's playground, and a poetry trail".
One of my kids' favourite treats is to visit the playground and cross over the road to their favourite "rainbow ice cream shop".
I have organised play dates with other parents and children at the Bloomfield playground and relaxed with mums and dads at the cafe while our children have safe play in a friendly environment.
Sadly, my children will no longer be playing in that playground and buying ice creams from a shop which is now next door to an adult shop.
The addition of this shop has taken away the "family friendly'' reputation that this precinct was previously known and loved for.
I know other parents will think twice about taking their children to this area for play and treats.
