The Access All Areas Film Festival comes to the Redland Performing Arts Centre at Cleveland on Thursday, December 4.
This annual free event brings accessible screenings of Australian films to venues around Australia, and RPAC and Redland City Council are proud of their association.
"Watching a movie on a big screen is something many take for granted, yet many Australians are excluded from the experience due to accessibility issues," council community and cultural spokesman Cr Lance Hewlett said.
"Access All Areas Film Festival raises awareness of issues surrounding ability and access and we are honoured to hold a screening at RPAC, which is a wheelchair accessible venue with a hearing loop," he said.
Access All Areas screenings are at 11am for family-friendly short films (about 60 minutes) and at 12.30pm for feature film tracks (about 112 minutes). The family-friendly titles include Gallant Captain, My Country and Barbouillageville. The feature film Tracks is the true story of Robyn Davidson, who took a solo trek across 2700km of Australian outback with a dog and four camels. Both are filmed with open captions and audio descriptions.
Although this is a free event, bookings need to be made on 3829 8131. Free tea and coffee will be served from noon to 12.30pm and the Sundial Cafe cart will also be open on the plaza.
Access All Areas Film Festival is run by non-profit company The Festivalists as part of Don't DIS my ABILITY campaign.
