THE 7th Macleay Island Classic canoe race was held on Sunday, with 43 canoes, including a six-person outrigger, entering the 15km race around Macleay Island, starting and finishing at Tingira Boat Club.
Winning the event was Jy Duffy, who circumnavigated the island in a time of 1:8:9, with second placegetter Ryan Paroz finishing only one second behind him.
Third place went to Tim Burdiak, who finished with a time of 1:11:8 and the first female over the line was Brianna Massie, who finished at 1:17:44.
Event director Neville Prosser said the weather was kind to the event, with storms staying away until the afternoon.
